Browser setup wizard
Finish the installation in the browser with the five-step /install wizard.
Once the server installer finishes, HWD POS is completed in the browser. The wizard checks the environment, connects to the database, records your company details, creates the administrator account and activates the license.
Open the wizard
From any computer on the local network, open the address printed at the end of the installer summary:
http://SERVER-IP/installIf you chose a port other than 80, include it: http://SERVER-IP:8080/install.
The wizard has five steps: Welcome → Database → Company → Administrator → Activation. It will not let you continue while something mandatory is missing.
The database tables are not created until you confirm the activation key in the last step. Until then you can go back and correct any field.
Step 1: Welcome and environment check
The wizard lists the requirements with a ✓ or ✗:
| Requirement | Mandatory |
|---|---|
| PHP ≥ 8.2 | Yes |
| PDO MySQL | Yes |
| cURL | Yes |
| mbstring | Yes |
storage/ writable | Yes |
| GD | Recommended |
| Zip | Recommended |
If storage/ writable shows ✗, it is a permissions problem (or SELinux on AlmaLinux). See Common problems.
Step 2: Database
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Host | 127.0.0.1 if the database is on the same server; the database server's IP if it is on a separate machine. |
| Port | 3306 |
| Database | hwd_pos |
| User | hwdpos_manager |
| Password | The one generated by the installer (see below). |
| Socket | Leave it empty. Only for special local-connection cases. |
The installer saves the generated password in deploy/DB-CREDENTIALS.txt, readable only by root. Display it with:
sudo cat /var/www/HWDPOS/deploy/DB-CREDENTIALS.txtOn a database-only server (split installation) the file is /root/HWDPOS-DB-CREDENTIALS.txt, because there is no application folder on that machine. You can also display the credentials with hwdpanel (option 8).
The wizard tests the connection before continuing. If it fails, the message tells you whether the problem is the credentials or the network.
Use 127.0.0.1, not localhost. With localhost the driver tries a Unix socket and you may get "No such file or directory".
Step 3: Company details
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Company name | As it should appear on documents. You can change it later in Settings. |
| Currency symbol | B/. in Panama. |
| ITBMS (%) | The whole-number percentage: 7. |
| Starting transaction number | Leave the default unless you are continuing a previous numbering sequence. |
Step 4: Administrator user
This step creates the super administrator, an account that cannot be locked out or left without permissions.
| Field | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Full name | The person responsible, not "Admin". |
| Username | Short, with no spaces. |
| Password | At least 8 characters. Write it down: there is no email recovery at this point. |
If the password is lost, reset it from the server with hwdpanel (option 7).
Step 5: Activation
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Activation key | The one provided by your vendor. |
| Customer code | The one provided by your vendor. |
The server connects to the internet to validate the license and binds it to this machine. When you confirm, the system creates the complete database, applies all structure updates and takes you to the login screen.
The server needs internet access in this step. If it cannot reach the activation service, activation does not complete. Check from the server:
curl -sI https://3r.com.pa/pos | head -1Next
Log in with the administrator account and continue with First steps after installing.
