First steps after installing

What to configure after the wizard, and a quick functional check before handing the server to the store.

After the setup wizard finishes and you log in as administrator, configure the system in the order below.

Company settings

System → Settings (Sistema → Ajustes): logo, RUC, address, phone numbers and email. The logo appears on A4 documents.

Users and roles

System → Users (Sistema → Usuarios): create one account per person, never shared. The audit log records who did what. Permissions are assigned by role and can be fine-tuned per person under Individual permissions (Permisos individuales).

Printers

System → Printers (Sistema → Impresoras): add each printer, choose its paper (80 mm / 58 mm thermal, or A4 document) and run a test print from there. See Printing.

Warehouses, categories, suppliers and units

Create these before loading products, so that products can reference them.

Product catalog

Enter products by hand or import them from a spreadsheet (Products → Import, Productos → Importar).

Backups

Create a backup and download it to another machine. A backup that lives only on the same server does not protect you from anything.

Email (optional)

Configure SMTP if you want to send quotations and invoices by email.

Plugins (optional)

System → Plugins (Sistema → Complementos): server status, PHP settings, help assistant, customer email and more.

Checking the installation

There are three tools, from quickest to most complete:

ToolWhereWhat it shows
check.shServer terminalDiagnoses PHP, extensions, MariaDB, web server, port, CUPS, Chrome/Chromium, background services and the panel, and offers to repair them.
hwdpanelServer terminalDay-to-day menu: restart services, passwords, connection capacity, logs, IP and URL.
System screenInside HWD POSLive status: version, pending migrations, database connection usage, backups (create, download, delete) and the state of the background-service files.

The System screen is under System → System (Sistema → Sistema).

Minimum functional check

Before handing the server over to the store, run through this test:

  1. Log in with the administrator user.
  2. Create a product and give it stock.
  3. Create a quotation and charge it at the cash register (Caja).
  4. Print the document. This tests the print queue, the print service and the printer.
  5. Create a backup from System → System and download it.

If any step fails, see Common problems.
